Marina Fedorova, one of two mentors in this year's Art + Tech Programme, has guided a group of talented UAE students in creating an innovative installation. The result of their collaboration will be unveiled at Abu Dhabi Art 2024.

Art + Tech is an annual community programme commissioned by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi inviting artists to collaborate with Art and Technology students in a series of workshops. The purpose of the programme is to bridge the gap between Art and Technology in their studies.

This year two artists were invited to collaborate with participating students. The artist Afra Al Suwaidi led on creating the installation through participatory workshops with students who were invited to reflect on childhood memories. The artist Marina Fedorova introduced Augmented reality to the students’ stories and memories of childhood.

Under the guidance of experienced artist Marina Fedorova, university students embarked on a transformational journey, exploring the possibilities of augmented reality, which opens up unique ways to bring artistic concepts to life that are inaccessible to traditional forms of art. Working with Marina provides students with a rare opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge in the use of augmented reality in their creative work.

As a result of the programme, the ten-story book “Follow Your Dreams” was born, showing us how our inner child can bring us success, happiness, and purpose. The videos can be experienced in Augmented Reality format at Abu Dhabi Art in the Community Project section.

This amalgam of technology and art will be unveiled at Abu Dhabi Art 2024 from 20-24 November, where Fedorova’s cutting-edge digital art will set a new standard for how we engage with visual storytelling.
